According to official figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders published 4th June 2010, UK car sales are seeing big increases in 2010 compared to 2009. New car sales in May were up 13.5% from twelve months before, representing over 153,000 new cars sold. Sales are still far below what they were before the recession but the market is improving and people are out buying again. But the recession has made people more wary of high prices and credit and now, more than ever, people are looking to pay less and find bargains.

Traditionally, this may have meant haggling with dealers and this can certainly still work, but there are a couple of other options to consider as well.

Using a Car Broker

There are now a number of websites where consumers can search for the new car they're interested in and see the latest deals from dealers from around the country. Good examples of these sites include CarQuake, Motorparks, Drivethedeal and UK Car Discount. Some sites instantly provide buyers with available car bargains and others require the broker to contact the buyer themselves.
