The writer appears to be a not-native English speaker.
A guess: he/she may be a Japanese person.

The seller notes correctly that you are unlikely to need warranty service,
but if you do, then you send the camera to the seller (in London?) and they
send it to Japan, and there it gets repaired in time (how long) and then sent
back to London, and then on to you. And so who will pay all that postage cost?
Perhaps the seller should say so up front.

It does not seem like a bad deal at all, just the risk of your getting a DOA or damaged in shipment camera,
and the risk of an ebay seller ignoring your needs (they can and do do that).

If somehow, somehow you could get lucky and find a similar good price from an authorized dealer,
then you are better covered.

I don't mean to raise needless worry, but just in case the worst happens,
it would be tragic for you to suffer emotional and money loss over any camera.

Again, it will probably all be OK---it's just that is a long way from your country to the seller, to Japan and then all the way back again.

Also: are any of these HV20/30 cameras made -anywhere else BUT in Japan?
If all of them are made in Japan, then there: the seller is guilty of an outright lie,
and does not deserve your money or trust.

I will go ask now whether or not ALL the HV cameras are assembled in Japan (I expect they would all be from Japan, but don't yet know for sure)
Sorry yeah, I didn't mean to come across as argumentative, some of those guys do seem to have good prices. My only issue is the virtual store only and I guess I prefer to be able to take stuff back if possible.

TheCheetahExpress as mentioned in Pirate's post does indeed have over 10k feedback, but the following from the advert makes me want to go elsewhere: -

"Hello all and welcome to our buy it now for a brand new Canon EOS 7D 18MP SLR BODY! This comes in the 7D Kit box, but we have taken out the 28-135mm lens.

Please note, a simple US to UK/EU adapter will be needed for the charger. There is a one year warranty with Canon!"

Not fussed about the kit box, but there's no mention of it being a Canon Uk warranty, and the adapter requirement makes me think quite the opposite.

I guess I'm just overly cautious, which is probably why I didnt buy one weeks ago and keep procrastinating
