Both had small beginnings, created simply to fill a need in the community. Then the outside world discovered Amish country, and quilts became a symbol of rural Amish and Mennonite culture. Quilting now is also an art. Visiting Grandma Fannie’s Quilt Barn east of Berlin is almost like walking through an art gallery.
